The North African nation of Tunisia marks a total of twelve national holidays annually. The government releases an official list of public holidays to be marked every year, but changes may occur depending on several factors. Article 445 of the Tunisia Labor Code directs the observance and provides the dates of official public holidays. Of the twelve national holidays allowed by law, 9 of them are considered non-working holidays while the rest are termed as non-working days only.

The government can only declare additional holidays through an official decree backed in the Labor Code. Both Saturday and Sunday are recognized as days of rest for workers. As it happens in many other nations world over, in case a public holiday falls on such a day, the nation's government has a constitutional right to adjust the marking of the celebration to the following working day. All employers are expected to allow their employees to have the day off to mark the celebrations.

Two of the holidays could be termed as multiday as the celebration is marked for two days. The law, in this case, directs employers to pay their employees for only the first day of the celebration. This is the applied law all over the nation except for cases whereby the respective work agreements or contracts state that payment is due for both days of the celebration. Of the twelve, three holidays are considered as unpaid non-working days. As is tradition worldwide, many businesses are affected and remain closed as workers mark the holiday. A few remain operational though on limited timings.
