With 18 national holidays, the Philippines is among the nations with many public holidays. The president of Philippines has power according to the law governing public holidays to regulate the holidays. Employees are given paid day offs on four holidays amongst the eighteen public holidays. However, there are special non-working days such as the voting days. Employees are given a day off during such special events.

Philippines have several celebrated religious holidays but the Christianity ones are dominant. Some of them include the Easter celebrations, All Saints Day, Immaculate Conception Day, and Christmas day. Christmas is the most celebrated holiday. With Christians converging in different places, the day is awaited from the eve of the due day. At the midnight the New Year is born and is marked with fireworks all over the country, people sing and dance nationwide as they welcome the New Year. During this day, a lot of activities take place among them visiting friends, going for picnics and gifting each other.
